Portfolio

  For my portfolio project, I drew inspiration from the image on the cover page and went with a green theme throughout the portfolio. I first tried to do all yellow pages, but I thought it looked too bland and didn't fit with some of the project images. I went with green because the logo and business card idea I liked the most were the green one, and I feel like it fits my brand. I also added different lines and shapes to make it look a bit more exciting. My favorite two pages from this portfolio are the cover page and the "Somewhere" project page. I really like the cover page because I think it fits the color theme really well, and I drew inspiration from a past student example. The "Somewhere" project page is my favorite because that was my favorite project to create. It's my favorite project because although it was time-consuming, I think it's my best work from this semester and showcases my abilities and growth.

BW to Color

For my BW to color project, I wanted to use a lot of bright colors and pastels to fill in my photo. I liked using odd colors like purple and green for my hair because I thought it would look very out-of-the-box and cooler. The hair was the most difficult part to color in because it was windy that day and I had a lot of flyaways I needed to capture. Something I think I could've done a little better on is the background – If I had more time I would've chosen to make all of the flowers different colors.

Somewhere

For my Somewhere project, I wanted to place myself in a scene from Mean Girls. Although I've seen the movie many times, it's not my all-time favorite movie, but I chose it because the wardrobe for this movie is so iconic, and I wanted to try and emulate it. To create this scene, I first chose the mall scene from the movie to place myself in. I chose this because all of the characters are facing the camera, with little overlap between them, so I thought it would be the easiest to make it look realistic. On photoshop, I first overlaid the image of me over Gretchen to replace her. I then took the opacity down and removed Gretchen from the image. This was the most difficult part because she's in front of a very busy background, so erasing her hair in front of the stairs was hard. After that. it was pretty easy to complete. It was fun to toy around with the different coloring and lighting options.
