     My name is Ella Malmgren, and I'm currently a junior at UT majoring in communications and double minoring in public relations and journalism. Although I'm taking FMX 210 as a requirement, I look forward to learning more about digital media, and I'm excited to use technology in a creative way. I think it's important to technologically proficient for any communications career path. In terms of my desired dream job, I love both public relations and journalism, and often have a hard time deciding between the two. I would like to either work in nonprofit public relations or write for broadcast news. 

    I'm originally from Maryland, about 30 minutes outside of Washington D.C.. What drew me to the University of Tampa was the weather, the school size, and the city environment. Some of my hobbies include reading, watching crime documentaries, golfing, and playing tennis with my friends. My favorite book genre is thriller, and I've recently been really into Stephen King novels. I'm a writer and copy editor for the Minaret, our school newspaper, and I'm in the Delta Zeta sorority. I also work part time at Willa's, a restaurant here in Tampa. Some goals I've set for 2022 include being more active, staying organized, and learning some new good recipes. After taking FMX 210, I hope to become more technologically advanced and discover my digital aesthetic!

BW to Color

For my BW to color project, I wanted to use a lot of bright colors and pastels to fill in my photo. I liked using odd colors like purple and green for my hair because I thought it would look very out-of-the-box and cooler. The hair was the most difficult part to color in because it was windy that day and I had a lot of flyaways I needed to capture. Something I think I could've done a little better on is the background – If I had more time I would've chosen to make all of the flowers different colors.

Somewhere

For my Somewhere project, I wanted to place myself in a scene from Mean Girls. Although I've seen the movie many times, it's not my all-time favorite movie, but I chose it because the wardrobe for this movie is so iconic, and I wanted to try and emulate it. To create this scene, I first chose the mall scene from the movie to place myself in. I chose this because all of the characters are facing the camera, with little overlap between them, so I thought it would be the easiest to make it look realistic. On photoshop, I first overlaid the image of me over Gretchen to replace her. I then took the opacity down and removed Gretchen from the image. This was the most difficult part because she's in front of a very busy background, so erasing her hair in front of the stairs was hard. After that. it was pretty easy to complete. It was fun to toy around with the different coloring and lighting options.

Business Cards

  For my business cards, I wanted to incorporate interesting patterns and designs, but still keep the overall look clean. I did this by mirroring the colors used in my original logo designs, and kept the information side minimal, with only the logo, text, Instagram handle and bullets. The first card I went for a simple symmetrical look, with ovals mirrored on both sides. If I were to make a business card in real life I would want it to be simply black and white or soft gray and white. The second design is probably my favorite because I love the colors green and yellow, and they align with my brand messaging. I also just think the swoops look really pretty and neat. The last design I was a bit more adventurous with, and went with a fire-inpired design. Although I think it looks cool, I would not use the third design as my chosen business card because the colors are a bit harsh for a business card, I would want my business card to be symmetrical, and I would also want my card to be horiz
